When I was in Toronto last weekend I went to Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and saw “At Home with Monstersâ ,” an exhibition presenting Guillermo del Toro’s “cabinet of curiosities.” The scale of the exhibition is impressive and feels like a walking tour through a labyrinth of rooms organized thematically, richly appointed with chiaroscuro lighting, providing glimpses into his creative process through his collection of works of art, Victorian-era artifacts, props, figures, books, and comic books that he maintains at his creative haven located in Los Angeles known as Bleak House. I like how the walk concludes with a celebration of horror films and comics, while many of the themes are dark, the experience has a relatively happy ending in a selfie spot with an image of Guillermo del Toro and Frankenstein. The exhibition runs through January 7, 2018, highly recommended, a perfect addition to any Toronto itinerary.
Thanks for describing this. Wish I could experience it!
