DVXUser.com and DVinfo.net

March 21, 2005

You will find great discussions and wonderful samples of movies and so on at dvxuser.com. Its a great site to ask questions, exchange information and opinions, etc… Also a great place to post your own movies for critique by peers. There are sections the DVX as well as HDV, the XL2 and so on. Jan Crittenden of Panasonic monitors the site, so the information there is usually pretty accurate. Another excellent site, with a focus on a wider range of cameras (not as DVX focused) is DVinfo.net, it’s a site with a real-names real-information philosophy that keeps me coming back for more.

An informative site for DV filmmaking

March 20, 2005

DV Creators offer great information, QuickTime movie demos and retail information on their site. If you sign on to receive their e-mailings, you’ll be kept abreast of the latest products and solutions for capturing, lighting editing, sound recording and monitoring. For example, you can find a QT of the Firestore FS HDD (direct-to-disc) hard drive recording unit, which Dan and Don Berube demonstrated at last week’s BAVUG (Boston Avid User Group) meeting. They also have movie demos of the Rifa light, the Tiffen SteadiStick and so on. Here’s a sample of some recent additions to the DV Creators site: Sound, Rifa, Edirol VMC-1, Steadystick, and Firestore.
