Electronic music innovator Bob Moog died yesterday.
His contribution to filmmaking was enourmous, as the synthesizer freed composers to work with a wider range of tools, and made it possible to to work more more closely with their collaborators, the synthesizer made it easier for producers and directors to hear what a composer had in mind before any scoring sessions. As synthesis improved, many instruments could be synthesized, providing indepedent filmmakers access to instruments that previosly only people with large budgets for recording sessions could afford. From what Bob Moog invented to Soundtrack Pro, GarageBand, and Logic, we’ve come a long way. Thanks Bob, we’ll remember you fondly. There will be a memorial celebration on August 24, 12 NOON at the The Orange Peel, Social Aid & Pleasure Club in Asheville, NC 828 225-5851
