New Technology Presentation at Rio International Film Festival
September 30, 2006
On Thursday, September 28th I moderated a Rioseminars Panel at Festival do Rio 2006 (Rio International Film Festival) titled “New Technologies / Digital Market” with Irina Neves (COO, Cine Mobile), Fabio Lima (COO, Rain Network), and Martha Cavalheiro (Marketing Vice President, Latin America, 20th Century Fox). We each gave a brief presentation and then engaged with the audience in a very lively question and answer session. My presentation provided the “big picture” context for the discussion, while Fabio, Martha, and Irina discussed their cutting edge work in mobile media and digital distribution.
I promised to make my slides available, here they are: Rio2006-NewTech-v2.pdf (PDF, 10.2 MB)
The presentation is based in part on a work-in-progress article: Macro-Trends-v2.pdf (PDF, 164 KB)

The very last page of the Internet, but wait, there’s more…
September 5, 2006
If you go to this web page: http://wwwdotcom.com/ that was featured on Rocketboom on 05-Sep-06 you might wonder who’s behind the very last page of the internet. Turns out it’s a nice gentleman by the name of Arthur who has had the URL registered for a long time and uses it to host web forms, he told me via email, “We put the ‘End’ text up to promote some humor but also to see who visits us with some interest.” It’s not the only “last page” you will find on the web, however, there are many pages like this if you do a Google search. Ok, let’s get back to work.

Art Film Talk: Steve Garfield, Video Blogging
September 3, 2006
In Episode 16 of Art Film Talk I talk with Steve Garfield about video blogging. It was pure serendipity, I was driving to MIT to record an interview with Henry Jenkins, Steve called, and we ended up having lunch at the Stata Center, recording an interview, and then videotaped two promos for Podcamp Boston, one of which might appear on Rocketboom next week and the other is on Steve’s video blog. That was a fun afternoon.
