Importing HDV footage into Final Cut Pro HD

December 14, 2004

Right now PC and Mac based editing systems don’t have built in support for HDV (though it’s around the corner for sure), therefore, you have to jump through some hoops if you want to ingest HDV footage into your Mac or PC right now. It’s time for the Fall 2004 camera shootout

December 8, 2004

What I saw of the Sony HDR-FX1 yesterday got me thinking, it’s time for a head to head comparison of this new camera with my current favorite, the Panasonic DVX-100A and the impressive Canon XL-2, all three cameras in 16:9 mode. While it’s not an inherently fair comparison, these are the three top contenders today among small prosumer cameras, all in the same ballpark in terms of price and performance, therefore, a qualitative comparison of these three is in order. If you’re interested in attending this weekend, give me a call at 617.216.1096.
